Senate Measure Would Create New, Independent University in Lakeland

A measure introduced in the state Legislature on Wednesday would create Florida Polytechnic University — a new, completely independent school in Lakeland. The measure was put into a budget-conforming bill by Sen. Evelyn Lynn, R-Ormond Beach, who chairs the Senate Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee, and was presented during a brief meeting of her subcommittee.
